After many phone calls, we can finally confirm that the award winning I Play 30 Sessions with Liss
Infants School will resume on Thursday 15 th September at 1pm
A big thank you must go to Kingsley Tennis Centre Head Coach Joe Dixon and specialist Disability
Coach Luke Mulvihill who have stepped in to help. Without their intervention these accessible
sessions would have been cancelled.
The sessions were previously run by Club Coach George Manley. However, following George’s
departure in July for place at University, all coaching offered by NCTC was put on hold. With a
general country-wide shortage of qualified coaches, the club has struggled to find a suitable
replacement.
The Club is still without a permanent coach meaning there is no quick return to coaching for juniors
and adults, but the offer of support from Kingsley means that these disability sessions for Liss Infants
SEN unit can continue while the search goes on.
The Thursday sessions which run from 1-2pm, will now be led by Luke Mulvihil and will resume on
September 15 th . They will run for 6 weeks up to the October half-term when there will be a winter
break
The sessions are unique because the Coach is joined on court by Club volunteers and teachers. The
teachers and volunteers support the coach and all three combine to support the children in the SEN
unit and deliver a fun session.
The session always needs more volunteers and if would like to donate one hour of your time
occasionally, please speak to Andy or email liss.tennis@gmail.com.
