Message from the New Chair

Dear All

I was really pleased to be voted in a Chair at the AGM last month and I am very much looking forward to the next year.   It is a great time to be in the club as so much has happened over the last year and more is still planned.  For those who don't know me, I joined the club just over 10 years ago and have enjoyed taking part in the Club Sessions, tournaments and supporting the teams.  It was and still is the friendliest club you could join and I am so pleased I was encouraged to do so by Sue!

If you have not been down to the clubroom recently, I recommend that you go along and have a look at the upgrades that have been made, led by Delia which have really improved the room.

More is still planned as the Men's Shed will be building seating with storage and it is currently undergoing redecoration thanks to the Newman Collard Park Trust.

And we have fantastic new floodlights!

Floodlights Installed

After a very successful Village Festival, organised and led by Andy, and a remarkable over night marathon by Ben, the club raised substantial funds towards this development.  We were then able to apply for and be given a Sport England Grant to help with this.  Just in time for the clocks going back, the new floodlights were installed and are now in use.  Being LED lights, they provide much better lighting and are considerably cheaper to run.

To celebrate this, there is a Turning On and Torchlight Tournament and BBQ arranged for 22 Nov so I do hope that you and your families will be able to come and take part or just enjoy the evening from the side. It looks to be a great evening.

Finally, I would like to thank all the committee members for their hard work over the last year.  It is only because of their commitment and dedication that we have the wonderful facility available to us and the opportunities for playing the game we enjoy and for tennis coaching.

With best wishes,

Sarah
