Open Days - Focus on Adult Beginners

If you've played tennis all your life, it's easy to forget how intimidating tennis clubs can be for adult beginners. Everyone looks really good, everyone hits the ball really hard, everyone is standing in different palces on the court and theres a really confusing scoring system. It's enough to put many off.

The first Club Open Day of the year was held on Saturday 16th April and as well as the usual programmes for juniors, there was again a focus on helping adult beginners and those returning to the game after a break. The club makes a conscious effort to help overcome those barries, get started and then keep playing - and open days encouraging adult beginners is one piece in the jigsaw.

The Open Day was covered in detail on Petersfield's Shine Radio so click on the link below to hear the full podcast, featuring interviews with chairman Andy Gray (about 9 minutes in), coach George Manley (20 minutes in) and junior co-ordinator Anthony Williams (26 minutes in).
