Welcome to Newtonmore Tennis Club Visitors Welcome

AGM : 28 February 2025 @ 530pm

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

28th February 2025 at 5.30pm

Held at the Tennis and Bowling Club Pavilion, Golf Course Road, Newtonmore.

All members are encouraged to attend in order that the Club will be run in the best interests of the membership.

Any suggestions for the improvement of the social tennis, tournaments, matches, coaching and administration of the Club can be discussed.

Please do not hesitate to make a contribution to the meeting and raise any relevant issues.

At the meeting the Accounts of the Cub for the accounting period from 1 November 2023 to 31 December 2024 (14 month period) will be tabled for approval by members.  This reflects the alteration of the accounting period of the Club to end on 31 December in each year as approved at the EGM of the Club held on 29 December 2024, minutes of which will be put on the Club Website.

The Committee is proposing moderate increases to the Annual Membership fees for Adults (increase from £30 to £40), Families (increase from £50 to £70) and Corporate (increase from £50 to £100) memberships.  We would highlight that this is the first increase in 6 years and that the Club remains one of the best value clubs in the Highlands.  The Club is open to being approached by any person who wants to be or renew as a member but cannot afford the increased fee with a view to enabling them to continue their membership and enjoy the facility of Newtonmore Tennis Club.

Any points should, if possible, be sent in beforehand to the Secretary at newtonmoretennisclub@gmail.com.

The agenda for the meeting will be:

1. Apologies for absence
2. Chairman's Statement and Report
3. Treasurer's report and accounts
4. Election of committee members and call for new committee members.
5. Membership Fees for 2025
6. Any Other Business.

The appointment of Committee members will take place at the AGM.

If you wish to make any nominations please contact the Secretary at newtonmoretennisclub@gmail.com.

Introduction

Building on the success of the junior and mini tennis coaching programmes in Newtonmore over the past 5 years, together with the steady increase in numbers of children and adults who are playing tennis on the Newtonmore tennis courts, Newtonmore Tennis Club was re-constituted in October 2018 by a steering group of enthusiastic and committed people.

The Goals of the Newtonmore Tennis Club:

  • to become a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) registered tennis venue;
  • to improve the tennis facilities by resurfacing the existing three tennis courts and replacing the tennis nets;
  • to promote and develop mini, junior and adult tennis, on both recreational and competitive levels; and
  • to provide quality tennis coaching programmes to individuals and groups of adults and children.

The benefits of becoming an LTA registered tennis club include access to funding for facility maintenance and improvement, club entitlement to Wimbledon Tennis Tournament tickets annually, public liability insurance, options to enter local team tennis leagues and entitlement to participate in LTA sponsored junior and adult tennis initiatives.

As a newly re-established tennis club and taking into consideration the current state of our tennis courts, we have set the membership fees at a modest level.

We are confident that having improved tennis courts in Newtonmore will be beneficial to the local community and will prove an added attraction to our visitors.
