Welcome to Newtonmore Tennis Club

Membership Renewal 2022 - Please renew

Thank you for your support and for being a member of the tennis club.

It's been a fantastic year for the Club and our membership is currently sitting at 140 members, which is great to see in the third year since we revived the Club.  Thank you to all of you!

During 2021 we completed the refurbishment of the courts and the new surface is a significant improvement.  Rejoin to make full use of the new courts!

We have held the membership fees at the same levels as last year to encourage as many as possible to rejoin and make full use of the courts.  Please encourage others to join too.  More details below.

The new membership year starts on 1st April 2022 and you can renew now using the link below.

The following link will take you to the membership page on our website, where you can log-in to your ClubSpark account to re-activate your membership:

We have retained the "corporate" membership for guesthouses, self-catering tourist accommodation and other local businesses - which is priced at £50.

Coaching, competitions and Social Tennis

We've run a busy coaching programme for both juniors and adults, including a summer camp. Our junior social tennis evenings have been well attended, whilst our social tennis evenings have been loyally attended.

Social Tennis will run again this year on Tuesday evenings 6pm until 8pm.  We are also organising a coaching programme with our coach Stephen Anniss which members will be contacted about separately.

Thanks to Helen Stewart and Helen Gray for organising the coaching and please do contact them either of them if you would like to participate in the coaching events.

Committee and Court Refurbishment

The committee have met regularly throughout the year and significant progress is being made with our facilities improvement project. The courts have been fully refurbished, new scoreboards installed and new posts and nets installed.  Many thanks in particular to Ian Gibson for his fundraising and coordination of the works.

As a reminder the club also has an electric ball machine for members use which we are hoping to make available to members from the Visitors section of the clubhouse of the Bowling Club.

We have also obtained a leaf blower for cleaning the surface of the courts now that they have been refurbished.  Please do not sweep the new surface.

Membership Fees unchanged

Whilst the courts have been now been refurbished and maintained by a range of volunteers the committee have decided to maintain the renewal subscriptions at the same levels as last year. This has regard to the current economic environment and also reflects the fact that the Club has been successful in raising sufficient funds to fully pay for the refurbishment and maintain a suitable balance on the bank account.  We hope that you will all re-join this year to ensure our successful rebirth of the club continues!  Please also encourage your friends who have not yet joined to do so too: everyone is welcome.  Feel free to send them this email.

Member updates, use of courts and COVID Guidance

When you rejoin please book courts using the Clubspark system.  This ensures fair use of the courts and we can also monitor use of the courts.

We would like to remind members and guests that the courts are available for use only of tennis and no other ball or other games.  There have been some instances of people playing football or bringing pets on to the courts which is not permitted.

When you re-join you will receive an email confirming the access code for the courts.  We also update the website regularly with information regarding the Club.   We are pleased to say that outdoor tennis is unaffected by any COVID related restrictions but we will of course keep the website and booking system updated should that change. At the moment this also includes regular updates on the present COVID related access use regulations.  Please follow all advice on cleaning hands and equipment and keeping social distance when not playing.

Hoping to see you out on the tennis courts during the coming season.

Minutes of 2021 Annual General Meeting

Building on the success of the junior and mini tennis coaching programmes in Newtonmore over the past 5 years, together with the steady increase in numbers of children and adults who are playing tennis on the Newtonmore tennis courts, Newtonmore Tennis Club was re-constituted in October 2018 by a steering group of enthusiastic and committed people.

The Goals of the Newtonmore Tennis Club:

  • to become a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) registered tennis venue;
  • to improve the tennis facilities by resurfacing the existing three tennis courts and replacing the tennis nets;
  • to promote and develop mini, junior and adult tennis, on both recreational and competitive levels; and
  • to provide quality tennis coaching programmes to individuals and groups of adults and children.

The benefits of becoming an LTA registered tennis club include access to funding for facility maintenance and improvement, club entitlement to Wimbledon Tennis Tournament tickets annually, public liability insurance, options to enter local team tennis leagues and entitlement to participate in LTA sponsored junior and adult tennis initiatives.

As a newly re-established tennis club and taking into consideration the current state of our tennis courts, we have set the membership fees at a modest level.

We are confident that having improved tennis courts in Newtonmore will be beneficial to the local community and will prove an added attraction to our visitors.
