2017 is the second year of the Tennis for Kids programme and I was lucky enough to meet Leon Smith the Davis Cup Captain and previous coach of Andy Murray during the training for this course. The aim of the LTA is to give 20,000 children who have never played before to experience 6 weeks of free tennis coaching and a free tennis racket. 

I was very impressed with Leon's passion to improve grassroots tennis and how he recognised that the future of the sport lies within the local clubs and coaches. He presented very well on his ideas to develop young tennis players. 

At Market Drayton, I will be running a Tennis for Kids course later in the year. Dates are 17th, 24th May, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th June 2017. Sessions will be from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. If you know of any children that have never played before (aged 6-8) that would be interested then please email me
