COVID Update/NHS Track and Trace

You will all be aware of the NHS Track and Trace process that has been introduced as a measure to help to combat the spread of COVID.  It is the responsibility of the committee to advise you to follow the rules for Track and Trace if you display symptoms of the virus.

We do not hold records of who has been at the courts at any time but obviously we would help with contact details, where we are able, if we are asked to do so.

However we believe that it is unlikely that people would need to be traced if players had not been in close contact with each other for a period of more than 15 minutes.  We believe that means that players on other courts would not have satisfied the ‘close contact’ rule.

Therefore anyone reporting to Track and Trace would only have to consider those players with whom they had actually been playing and therefore they would not need the club’s help to identify and provide contact details for them.

This approach of course emphasises the need to maintain social distance when at the club.

On that note, the Committee members continue to take our responsibilities very seriously so we make no apology for again reminding you of some of the basics for keeping you and other members safe:

We ask you to make yourself aware of the updated guidance that is available on the LTA website, the Club’s own website and the Clubhouse windows.

  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds before and after play.
  • if you or anyone from your household is displaying symptoms of the virus then do not access the courts for any reason.
  • continue to adhere to the social distancing rules both on and off the court where possible (if you are playing singles with someone from outside your household please change ends at opposite sides of the net from each other).
  • use hand gel frequently. You need to provide your own hand gel.
  • do not handle balls from other courts.  Use either your racquet or foot to send stray balls back. Put identifying marks on your own tennis balls so you can easily spot which are yours.
  • do not congregate in groups before, during or after play.
