Singles Ladder Competition
The Club is now running a mixed singles ladder, which is open to all adult members. The ladder rules and how to enter are explained below:
New Players
- New players wishing to join the ladder should do so by emailing decjpay@hotmail.com with their contact details, entering ‘Singles Ladder’ within the subject line.
- New players wishing to join the ladder will be assigned 1 wildcard challenge anywhere in the ladder.
Challenging Other Players
- You may challenge anyone up to and including 3 places above you.
- The App will allow you to challenge anyone on the ladder to a friendly, but results won't count towards the ladder rankings if they are outside of 3 places above you.
- Once a challenge has been set no other challenge should be accepted until the match has been cancelled, forfeited, or played and the results entered, and confirmed by both players.
- The date and time of any match should be mutually convenient for both players. The challengee must respond to a challenge within 3 days after being challenged and a match time and date must be set up for the match to be played within 10 days of the challenge or give a default.
- The challenger is responsible for providing reasonable tennis balls (No X-balls Christian!) for the match, and booking a court via ClubSpark.
Match Format
- Matches for Top 10 positions must be played to a best of 3 sets, with a Champions tie break (to 10 points) if the score is tied at one set all.
- Matches outside of Top 10 positions maybe played to any best of 3 format agreed by both players. This could be best of 3 – short sets, tiebreakers, 10 point games etc.. This is designed to make the ladder more inclusive for players that may struggle to complete full set matches, and facilitate short matches that can be played during or at the end of Club Night sessions.
Posting Results
- The winner should enter the result in the app after every match. The loser must verify the result in the app before it will count towards ladder rankings, so this should be done as soon as possible.
- If any player fails to turn up for an arranged match the other player wins by default. A default should be entered as a 1-0 win in the app.
- Any player forfeiting twice consecutively, maybe dropped to the lowest position on the ladder.
Win or Lose
- If the challenger wins the match, they move to their opponents’ position on the ladder and everyone drops down one place.
- The losing player must wait 10 days before re-challenging the same player.
