Wimbledon American Doubles Tournament - Sunday 4th July 10am-12.30pm

The ODTC American doubles tournament is for any level of player who has the ability to serve, rally and has a basic understanding of scoring.

Due to the nature of the format, higher level players and lower-level players may play together and all will still have a chance to win the tournament.

The tournament is open to members and non members alike and is to be played in a social spirit.

There will be a maximum capacity of 24 players & places will be confirmed only once payment (of £10 per player) has been made – So to avoid disappointment, please make payment promptly upon booking.

Format overview

  • The tournament will last roughly 2 hours from 10:00 – 12:00, arrival at 9.45am for registration.
  • Players will enter as individuals
  • On the day, players will be assigned a partner at random to play with for the first round.
  • After that, players will be paired up with a new partner at random for each of the following rounds.
  • The amount of rounds & how long each round runs, will be determined by the number of entrants to the tournament.
  • Each player will play an equal amount of rounds to everyone else, to ensure everyone has a fair chance to get the highest points total.
  • At the end of all of the rounds, the player with the most accrued individual games will be the winner.

Rules

  • Each match will be played to a time limit (to be decided, based on number of entrants).
  • Games will be played with regular tennis games scoring (15-0, 30-0) with sudden death deuce (if you get to deuce, you play one point to decide the game – the returning pair have the choice of side they’d like to return from).
  • When the time is over, the organiser will sound a horn. Players may finish the point they are on, but no further points must be played after that, even if you are in the middle of a game.
  • After the round is over, you will hand in your individual score (however many games you won) to the organiser to be tallied against your name.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, at the end of the tournament, once the organiser has tallied up the total scores!
