Oswestry Tennis Club’s July social tournament was enjoyed by fifteen participants, nine of its own members and six guests.
Five mini matches were packed in for each participator before the scores were counted up and the finalists determined.
The women’s section was very tight with Ruth Sperring the highest point scorer but three players tying for second; Carol Slater, Rhian Morris and Rhian Jones. Rhian Jones qualified on count-back to join Ruth in the final.
The men’s section was more clear cut with James Kiel and Peter Scott just pipping Maisie Anderson who was playing as an honourary man.
So Ruth and James paired as the highest scoring woman and man, against Rhian and Peter in a ‘first to four games’ final. Rhian and Peter clearly saved their very best for the final to convincingly take victory.
Gary Edwards, tournament organiser, presented the winners with their prizes and the club looks forward to the next social tournament which is to be held on Club Finals day in September.
