Match Report - Men’s 3rd v Boughey Gardens 6th

The Oswestry Mens 3rd team made the long journey over to Newport to play Boughey Gardens 6th. After a day of thunderstorms and torrential rain in Oswestry it was nice to get away from it into more pleasant climes.

Chris Smith was welcomed into his first match of the season and paired with Nick as Team 1. After Adam and Andy's chastening in their last match they were looking to redeem themselves in Team 2.

Chris and Nick got themselves off to a competitive start narrowly loosing the first set 6-4, but unfortunately the second set slipped away a bit quicker with a 6-1 loss.

Adam and Andy took an early lead in the first set 3-0, before Boughey Gardens brought it back. The first set was decided on a tie break which Oswestry won convincingly. The second set was closely fought as well with Adam and Andy winning it 6-4.

Chris and Nick in Team 1 got underway against Boughey Gardens Team 2 and struggled (fell apart) in their first set losing it 6-0 (Ouch), with Chris taking a ball to the face at one point (Double ouch). However they heroically won the second set 6-4 and then pulled off a win in the tie break. An incredible come back.

Adam and Andy in Team 2 faced off against Boughey Gardens Team 1. It was a closely fought match with lots of baseline rallies and some really nice shots from both teams. Oswestry pulled ahead in the first set and won it 6-3, and the second set went to a tie break which Adam and Andy won.

Boughey Gardens were great hosts at a lovely venue on a very pleasant evening. A thoroughly enjoyable match with Oswestry winning 3-1
