The wooden racquet tournament, part of the clubs centenary celebrations, was held on Sunday 18th May. With 15 entrants, all dressed in traditional white kit as worn in the 1920s, was great fun with some interesting shots as everyone got used to the wooden racquets. This was a mixed doubles format with individuals scoring games won. After everyone had played 4 matches, the top 2 men and the top 2 women, contested a final to determine the winning pair. The players qualifying for the final were Gary Edwards, Nickolay Dimitrov, Carol Slater and Liz Newsholme. A tightly contested final with Gary and Carol winning by just one game.
The next event at the club is Oswestry Community Gamesmon 8th June.
