Tennis Court Update 24_11_16
I am pleased to advise that we are slowly making progress with our funding applications.
We have reached the final stage with the Sport Scotland application (£100K requested). Another form required will be a further delay.
Also LTA /Tennis Scotland looks positive (£24K grant, £25K loan).
The good news is our application to Landfill (£25K) has been approved.
Adrian and I attended the Common Good Fund Committee meeting last night and I am pleased to say the Councillors approved a £10K Grant, subject to planning approval and receipt of the other main funds.
This is important, as we must provide 25% of the total project from “local sources” to enable us to comply with the conditions of the Sport Scotland Grant.
We are just about to submit the full Planning Application and I met with the Planning Officer last week to discuss the application. The main issue is likely to relate to the proposed floodlighting and “light spill”. We have drawings showing this and are trying to obtain as much technical information as possible from the supplier, to anticipate any resident complaints.
We are “biting the bullet” and hoping to finance the complete project which basically is – a new tarmacadam base surface, a new artificial clay surface (which is laid on top of the new tarmac), 8x10m high floodlighting masts with Halide lamps, new fencing, removal of trees alongside the courts. If we do not raise sufficient money for all the above in this application, we will still construct the required bases/ducting for the lighting masts and the actual masts can then, easily, be fitted at a later date from separate funding.
So progress is slow, however, looks positive and fingers crossed we hope to have an update towards the end of the year. If we DO obtain the funds we hope to be able to commence the contract in the New Year, however, construction is, of course, dependent on suitable weather conditions.
