It was great to see so many attend last nights club AGM where the club celebrated another momentous year and released plans for our incorporation and padel tennis development in 2020. We also paid thanks to outgoing Chair Anthony Phillips who has driven the club forward again in recent years, Captains Fay Glinister and Chris Payne who have been so welcoming to our juniors entering adult tennis, and our Junior Coordinator Liz James who has served 8 years in a row and given so much back to the club where she was our Head Coach after a successful playing career. You can see a pic of us 20 years ago on my Twitter feed. Our new Junior Coordinator is Sam Owen who is supported by a sub-committee including Liz who continues to volunteer her time, you’ll hear more from us in due course!
With our midweek squad programme taking a break from 8th December until 5th Jan, here’s a rundown on some special events over the Xmas break:
Mini and Jnr Matchplays will run with Tom Cole on Monday 9th December (5-7pm Orange) and Friday 13th December (4pm Red, 5-7pm Green & Yellow).
These round robin events will all count for ratings purposes as well as developing your skills outside the coaching court.

The Junior Tinsel Tennis / Xmas Party will run Saturday 14th December 11.30am-1pm:
Junior Morning sessions will run as normal, with off court games at 11.30am for ages 5-11 while the teens play
There will be a prize for the best dressed player
If its wet, games will run indoors but please bring Wellies if you’d like to play the ever popular posting game!
Please bring a plate of food and a wrapped (gender neutral) gift for the secret santa sack, value approx £3.
Please sign up on the board so we can plan for numbers, and pay £4 on the day towards our event running costs.
We would like to remind all parents that children under 12 should not be at the club unsupervised (unless in a coaching session), so please ensure they have a responsible adult on-site during the off-court elements.
Junior Mornings will resume on Sat 11th January when we are introducing some further changes to develop a ‘Youth Club’ feel.
A Teen & Adults WAVES tournament will run with Rob Gaunt on Tuesday 17th December, 6-8pm.
A 3v3 event with loads of fun, crazy rallies and a chance to hit from all court positions. Rules to be explained on the day!

Rob Gaunt and I will be working with some of the higher adult team players on elements from the British Doubles Tennis System which is in place from County training to our Davis/Fed Cup teams. If you’d like to find out more, just drop us a note.
A huge thankyou to everyone for your support of our programmes and activities and whilst we aren’t quite in holiday mode yet with upcoming lots of LTA workshops and courses for the coaching team, we will look forward to recharging over the Xmas break ready for an even bigger and better 2020!
