On the budget end of things as a one off for new customers I can do a basic synthetic or nylon for £15.

Broken a string or your racket just not feeling right?

In my experience the modern polyester strings are more robust and do not break as frequently as the more traditional synthetics. However, their  playing qualities seem to diminish more quickly!  If you can feel or appreciate the difference you may want to consider a string refresh ahead of the string actually breaking.

You can breath new life into your racket with a great value professional restring.   An often stated a common guide is you should string your racket as many times in 1 year as you play (on average) in a week.  So if, on average you play 3 times a week, then 3 restrings over the year would be the guide.

However you certainly don't have to work to this guide, because it will vary hugely, depending on your playing style and moreso on how the racket feels to you. At the competition player end of the scale you will typically get players (not refering to professionals here) restringing once every two months (give or take), sometimes more depending on skill level.

If you have never restrung your racket ( 1, 2, 3 years) then it may be something to consider.  Strings in your racket are under tension and over time this effects their elasticity, responsiveness and overall playability. You could treat yourself to a refresh of strings.

Should I restring  my new  racket I just  bought from  a shop?
This really depends  on which shop you bought it from. Some shops will buy rackets unstrung and put in a decent string ready for the buyer. Some rackets will come "factory" prestrung - so we  cannot always know the quality or if the tension is right for you.  In this case you simpy have to test the  racket and see how it  feels - maybe get a view from a more seasoned player.

What if you have broken your racket? it happens sometimes.
If you are looking for a used racket let me know, I sometimes have rackets or know players who are upgrading and have older models to sell. I can't guarantee rackets always being available, but I can always make some calls on your behalf.

______________________________________________________________

Briefly, about me;

I played tennis since my mid teens and out of necessity have been stringing my own and fellow players rackets since then.

Racket and string technology has changed a lot over the years and the huge range now available is overwhelming.

As a player, I understand about stringing and strings. With my experience of competing I appreciates the subtle differences of what string or string combination can suit varying styles of play. I have many years of stringing and racket experience starting way back in the era of wooden rackets right up to the present day.

I now offer a "no-frills" bespoke professional stringing service to bring you restrings at sensible prices, players should not be priced out of getting new strings.
Your racket will be strung by me, a highly experienced stringer with a wealth of hands-on tennis knowledge.
