65 + Tournament

A successful round robin tournament was held on 19th May for members who were 65 years young or older. The tournament was the idea of Nick Olsberg in memory of one of our well loved players, Brian Waters, who was still playing tennis in his mid 80s.

18 participants were joined by our club chairman and social secretary in 5 rounds of fast 4 doubles sets, followed by a final. The pairs were made up in any combination of ladies, mens or mixed. Although there had been some anxiety from some of the participants beforehand, they all found that it was a fun & enjoyable tournament and are looking forward to next year.

A trophy was kindly made and donated by Lucy Baier. This can be seen in the clubhouse. It represents the fact that Brian was a pilot, who loved tennis.

The tournamanet champions were Mark Noble & Graham Oakley. Well done to them & also everyone who supported by playing :-)
