Coaching

Easter Camps and LTA Youth League

Hello,

Easter Camps are live on the Phoenix Tennis website. Running from the 14th-25th April excluding Easter weekend. They’re a great place to put into practice this term’s coaching with point play as well as fun games. As normal we will be covering a specific theme each day (forehand, backhand, serve, volley, match play). However, each day will consist of all the shots.

We also have a deadline of 28th February to enter junior teams into LTA Youth summer leagues. We haven’t entered this the past few years however we’d really love to start doing them again as they’re good exposure to matches. Based on age groups these can be mixed or same gender teams, they can be teams of 4 or 2 depending on which division we’re put into as well. The U8 and U9 events are held at an indoor venue with higher age groups being played at either our club or the away team’s club. The format is one singles match followed by one doubles match against another club.

This isn’t the same as LTA one-day events where you can enter your child as an individual, which some of our county juniors compete at regularly. The LTA Youth leagues we’d like to enter are team events which can be more enjoyable for players looking to take their first steps into competition, they’re also typically not quite as high a level as the LTA tournaments. If your child would be interested in participating or would like to know more, please could you let me know via email. The max age is 16, so anyone over this wouldn’t be eligible. We’d need a solid group of players to form a team as we’d always like to field a team and not let the other clubs down. Your child would need to be a member of Cirencester Tennis Club or be on our programme, able to score a match and be competent enough with serving.

Kind regards,

Jono
