Introduction
Pirton Tennis & Pickleball Club is a small club in the village of Pirton, which is 3 miles from Hitchin, Herts. We play on two porous tarmacadam courts located on the village's recreation ground. The courts are floodlit.
This year we are incorporating a Pickleball section within the Club. This follows a number of successful trials held on the courts last year and for which a lot of interest was shown. We hope to be building the membership of the Pickleball section up over the course of the coming year.
We have approximately 90 tennis members, ranging in age from 8 to over 70. We play a mixture of friendly social tennis, and more competitive league tennis. We hold club nights for members from 7pm every Tuesday and Wednesday. We have three teams in the local Datchworth league, and one in the Hot Racquets league. We also hold a number of other inter-club tournaments throughout the year.
We are affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and have an LTA qualified head coach who provides coaching to our members.
