A Guide to RLTC Court Etiquette/Priorities

Please use common sense and consideration to anyone waiting. That has always and will continue to be the mainstay of our friendly, open and inviting club where everybody should be willing to play with everybody else.

COURT PRIORITIES

1. When all the courts are in use, any members (adults/juniors/guests) waiting should be invited to join when players have finished a maximum of 6 games whether or not the 6 games started before those waiting arrived. At busy times when people are waiting all matches must be doubles with short deuces.

2. Players ‘hitting’ together not playing games should invite those waiting to join after 20 minutes.

3. The exceptions to the above rules are:

  • the official club tournaments - Summer and Winter Handicap; Open Day; Finals Day
  • league matches against other clubs
  • pre-arranged and announced junior events.
  • QE Boys use of courts which will be published each ter
  • Coach, Steve Porter, has, at all times, the right to use one court for training but if he is not using it the court is of course available for general play.

4. Official club tournament matches should not be arranged/played at designated social times (every Sunday 10 to 12 am; Thursday evening after 6pm).  Any other social times will be communicated to the membership.

5. Tuesday evenings are allocated to Men’s practice and Wednesday evening to Ladies' practice

VISITORS/GUESTS

  • Visitors must be signed in by a member and the visitor fee paid preferably into the bank account.
  • A member can sign up to 3 visitors in one day. They have the same standing as members for the duration of their visit
  • A visitor may only be signed in 3 times in a playing year.

SECURITY

  • Keys to the clubhouse or back gate can be purchased by adult members from a Committee member
  • The Blenheim Road gate code is shared with new members
  • The last key holder to leave should ensure the back gate and clubhouse doors are locked and lights are switched off
  • The last person should ensure the gate on Blenheim Road is closed securely

HEALTH and SAFETY/SAFEGUARDING

  • Any accident should be logged in the Accident Book in the clubhouse
  • A Defibrillator is available in the clubhouse
  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and any concerns/issues should be shared with the club’s Welfare Officer

We regularly update an online calendar with all official league matches, junior events and QE boys allocated times.
