Congratulations to all who played in our Bank Holiday Tournament on 3rd May 2021. A special well done is due to Berni Hart who had a superb score of 24 games won with just 7 games lost underlining her legendary consistency from the baseline. In second place was Michelle Kelsey who led the tournament until the last ten minutes when she and Kate Dalton were overwhelmed by a gritty, fighting performance from debuatant Grace Dalton and the experienced Julia Hanson. In third place was Rick  Collinson who has newly joined the club scoring a very impressive 20 games won, though Peter and I won't make the mistake of pairing him with Berni twice next time! Paul Jewell came fourth with 19 points helped by an impressive win 5-4 win with Steve Bostock against Ian and George Dalton. Grace did a great job in her first tournament at RTC coming 5th and scoring 17 points over three hard fought matches.

Match of the day was the very tense David Howell and Julia Hanson v Ian & Kate Dalton which ended at 6-6 in a super close finish with some outstanding tactical rallies and no significant marital rifts emerging. Aidan & Graham both started with very good wins, but came unstuck in the third round with Nigel Dallow and David Hanson having a strong win over Ken Hart & Graham Longbottom in the final match and Aidan and Onika being undone by steady play from Berni and Rick.

Onika gets special praise for carrying on after being thwacked with a ball in her first match and for having to play against Berni twice! The RTC supercomputer ranking system will of course reflect these results in seedings for the next contest... Thanks to all of our players for taking part and to our Tournament organiser Peter Jewell for putting on the day and sourcing the usual RTC top quality prizes!
