RSC's fun community five-a-side football tournament Cwpan y Gwylanod (The Seagulls' Cup) will be held on Saturday 22nd November. The trophy is named after an old Rhosneigr football team called The Seagulls.
The tournament has a round-robin group stage followed by knockout semifinals and final. Matches are intense - 8 minutes with no change of end and a 10 minute final. Teams comprise a maximum of eight local players (16yrs+) with five allowed on the pitch and tag-in subs.
The teams signed up for 2025 are - in no particular order - J Ellis Williams & Sons (Builders), Rhosneigr Firefighters, RAF Valley, The Oystercatcher Restaurant, Wariars Y Morfa, The Anglesey Golf Club and two teams from Rhosneigr Sports Club - the Legends and the Masters. The referee is Len Davies. Kick off is scheduled for 9.30am and the tournament is sheduled to last approximately 2.5-3hrs. Entry is free and refreshments will be avilable.
The Seagulls Cup was last won in 2023 by a team representing Y-Glan Neigr who beat the Wariars Y Morfa team in an epic battle of the pubs.
