Prime Video LTA Youth Girls Competition Day!

Over the past term Romsey Tennis have been running a series of subsidised coaching courses for girls aged 4-16 who are new to tennis.  This is part of a nationwide programme, “Prime Video LTA Youth Girls (PVYG)”. The sessions aim to make tennis fun and relaxed so girls can develop their skills in a supportive environment.

To date more than 40 young women, from the age of 4 to 16, have been involved in the coaching courses.  Each 12-week coaching course ends with a "Competition" event.

This week the Wednesday "mini red" group were the first to complete the programme and participate in the competition event.  The weather was kind and great fun was had by all.  The young women celebrated their triumph after the medal presentation (by Mihály, our Head Coach) with a picnic with their parents and grandparents.  The "Wimbledon" fairy cakes were spectacular!

Two more competition events will be held next week with the course for the secondary school girls finishing in August.

Romsey Tennis PVYG coach Veronica Broughton-Shaw said "It has been a delight to deliver these courses.  All the young women have worked so hard and have been great fun to teach.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Summer Camps and in September in our Autumn coaching programme.
