Members of the club gathered in the clubhouse on the evening of Friday 18th October 2024 for a fun session of Texas Hold'em Poker.
The evening began with a 45mins talk on the history and teaching of the game, and a small practice, before the event really kicked into action with three hours of high-stakes play across two Texas Hold'em tournaments.
Winners of the first tournament went through to the main table, where competition was fierce for a tub of Celebrations chocolates. Those knocked out of the first tournament went through to the reserve table, where there was similar rivalry for a tub of Cadbury's chocolates.
Congratulations to Bianca Keyse, the winner at the Main Table (thus winning the Celebations chocolates), and to Simon Keyes, the winner at the Reserve Table (thus walking away with the Cadbury's chocolates). Jane Howells took home the coveted Virtual Wooden Spoon.
Thank you to everyone who helped and took part in this event, especially to Martin Brandom for being on tea/coffee/washing up duties and many thanks to David Sanders for organising the event. It managed to raise £20 for the tennis club, and £20 for the Ryde Mead LTC Charity.
