We are very saddened to hear that one of our highly respected members, Martin Smallwood, lost his battle with cancer last week. 

Martin was a great supporter of the club and instrumental in changing the tennis club to one that was open and accessible by removing the playing in standard and introducing a low cost entry level membership to attract new members and grow the club.  He was Chair of the club for many years and led the pivotal project to install floodlights on all courts, which has enabled the club to be an all year round club with evening play.   

Martin loved his tennis, bringing children into the sport and he retained or brought back many of these children into tennis as young adults.  Along with Mo, he also provided coaching and free open play sessions for children after school.

Martin was made an honorary member, in recognition of all the work he did for the club.
