PRESIDENT'S LETTER - MARCH 2022
As the beginning of the new tennis season is approaching I wanted to update you on a few things.
Membership For most we are continuing to offer a reduced pre Covid fee for adult membership of £90 per person (Social). If you intend to play in league matches then we ask that you pay an additional £20 match levy when paying your membership fee. This will cover the various costs of entering leagues and will save team captains having to collect modest match fees each time you play, especially now that cash is becoming redundant with contactless cards. If you do not settle this extra levy you will not be able to play in any competitive matches in Tennis Tayside or Perth & District until you do. Full details of the various membership categories and fees can be found now on our website. Annual fees should be settled by the 1st of April, the first day of our new club season.
Clubhouse The clubhouse has been repainted inside. Tidying up has begun and cleaning the toilets and kitchen should be completed very soon. If you have anything left in the clubhouse, please ensure that you take it away in the next few days otherwise our "lost and found" collection will be disposed of soon. Very soon thereafter the clubhouse will again be officially open to all.
Open Day The date of the Open Day is 24th April, 1pm onwards. You are invited to come along and bring a plus one, or two! This is an open, not opening, day so we would really like you to encourage any friends or family to come along who might be interested in trying out or returning to tennis. Just turn up for some fun, tea and cake in a social environment. We plan to put on activities on-court for all ages.
Communication We are looking at, and have begun updating, our website. Facebook and Twitter will be used to promote events at our courts, so please consider following us on social media. We will post information on our Website for those who do not have access to these. Finally, we will post details on our outside notice board.
Social Play We have agreed and pre booked on the Club's booking page, social play and practice times. Team practice, will be all season, for Ladies and Gents, from 10 a.m. to noon on a Sunday. Ladies only match practice is on Monday evenings, 6.30 to 8.30pm, until the leagues start on w/c Monday 25th April. Social play for all is on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Hopefully we can also return to social Friday nights with a wee drink and blether afterwards? As far as possible all events other than Tennis Tayside matches are booked for two courts to comply with our lease and leave some access to the public.
Social Calendar We have a social sub committee who are putting together a calendar of social events which we hope will be held at regular intervals throughout the season. Members, of all abilities, are very much encouraged to participate. We will endeavour to keep everyone up to date with our plans using the various communication channels mentioned previously.
Non Members Charges for non members will continue to be £4 per court hour during the day and £5 in the evenings and weekends.
Court Booking Please, even when you think the courts will be quiet, book a court through the on line Clubspark web page. The page access procedure has changed. If you are having any difficulty with this contact Morag or if she is not available, Douglas.
Floodlights Please do not switch on the lights for courts not being used for play. Remember that we are the only club that does not charge for lights and current circumstances are seeing energy cost going sky high!
I wish to thank you for your continued support and hope to see you soon on Court.
We are a Scottish Charity, SCO33915, and as an active community resource we try to cater for all ages and standards.
