Brilliant Victory for the First Team

On Sunday the 24th of September we saw the rescheduled playoff match for national club league take place against Sutton Tennis & Squash Club. Going into the singles we saw some very tight matches take place with Seaford winning 3 of the 4 matches. Winning this playoff match would mean that Sussex would have their first men's team in the national groups of this competition in decades so a lot was riding on this match. This showed as the doubles matches were very tense. The partnership of Matt and Jack saw set points in the opening set of their match however they were unable to capitalise on these and ended up losing their opening set. Meanwhile on the court next door Adam and Joe suffered the same outcome losing set number 1. Matt & Jack stormed through their second set to take the match to a deciding championship tie break to 10 points. This was tightly fought and the first match points went in favour of the away team at 9-7. However Seaford dug in deep managing to save the two match points to take the match to 9-9 at the change of ends. Matt returned well to give seaford their first chance at winning the match on Jacks serve. The final point saw a huge serve from Jack. A couple of fast net exchanges and then a delicate lob to seal the victory! A big thank you needs to go to all that came and supported on both days as the atmosphere that was created definitely helped the team get through the match. ON TO THE NATIONAL STAGES SEAFORD GO!!!
