UPDATE on impact of COVID-19
Safety of everyone is paramount
Please may we start by assuring you all that the wellbeing and health of our players and their families at this time is our primary concern. We hope you are all well and safe.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal tennis families for their support, understanding and patience at this time. Although our tennis classes won’t be on for a while, we shall try to stay in regular contact. We will be doing all we can to support you, our loyal players and our self-employed coaches over the coming weeks, until we are able to resume our fuller activities.
Current inability to play tennis at all
In liaison with the club and tennis committee we have been closely monitoring the current situation and assessing what tennis remains permissible and appropriate under the present situation. In summary, as of 23 March 2020 the applicable and current Government and LTA guidance is:
People will only be allowed to take part in one form of exercise per day like a walk, run or cycle alone or with members of your household. This sadly means that all tennis activities are off until further notice.
We hope that if everyone respects this guidance then in the not too distant future, the Government’s guidelines may be relaxed a little to allow people to play tennis, which is a good example of exercising while social distancing, provided that suitable safeguards are followed, but realistically at best, that is a few weeks away.
What does the suspension mean for your booked courses?
We really hope to be back with you all as soon as events allow and at the moment we are working on the basis that we may be able to resume some tennis after the Easter Holidays but would only do so if government guidelines and advice then allow it.
We are working now to reschedule any remaining Spring term lessons that did not happen, as well as looking at the new Summer term dates. We will release these to you as soon as possible and only when it is probable, we can resume our tennis programme.
We are sure that you will have questions regarding bookings that have been placed and have put together a few FAQ’s that set out our approach for such bookings.
Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible.
FAQ’s
My Spring Term still had a few weeks left to finish the term. Have I lost these lessons?
No, any lessons remaining from this term will be carried over and take place as soon as it’s deemed appropriate for the group sessions to resume.
When next term does restart, we will be in touch to rearrange those missed session at the earliest convenience to all.
I have signed up for the Easter holiday camps. What happens to those?
Our Easter Camps will sadly not be happening. We are offering all parents credit for any of the future holiday camps this year (those are the May half term, Summer and October 2020 half term camps). You can redeem your place on any of those camps as we understand the flexibility that is often needed and welcome over holiday periods.
I have booked for the Summer Term but how will I know when this is going ahead? Will you keep me informed and will the timetable I have received be updated?
We will keep everyone updated regularly. We are not disappearing, and you can expect to hear from us regularly with the latest news and our updated plans as we all try to navigate this challenging period. As soon as we have a date to return, we will immediately notify all parents/players in a general email and then begin the process of issuing new timetables to each of you.
Should the term start later, we will be rolling over those missed lessons into next term.
Should the term not happen at all, you will all be automatically enrolled for the September term.
I have not yet booked my new term and wish to wait until the situation is clearer on when we can return before making a decision. Is there a chance I could lose my space?
It’s great that you still wish to return, and we can understand that you may be cautious about booking immediately without a confirmed start date. Firstly, let us reassure you that any bookings made now will be safe and your tennis lessons will start as soon as its possible to do so. If, however, you wish to wait for further developments just drop us a note to let us know that your current intention is to continue and we shall note this on our system, keeping your space available until we have confirmed a return date. If your intention changes at any stage, please update us.
