Dear Member

Great news! Following Great Britain’s victory in the Davis Cup last year, the LTA has decided to roll out a
‘Legacy Programme’. We have been chosen to be one of the clubs to run the programme to encourage more
juniors to play the game. Well done to Phil and his coaching staff.

With Spring time shortly upon us, we will be arranging the bottom four Courts (1-4) to be treated and
cleaned. We are also looking to replace the damaged fence on Courts (5-6). Hopefully, both projects will be
completed by the official start of the Summer Season, 1 May 2016.

GreenThumb will be helping us again this year with various treatments to the grass courts. After extensive
treatments and rolling in recent years, the courts are back to their former glory. Good fun and very forgiving
on the back & knees!

This year, the club is holding two open weekends on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th April 2016 and Saturday
25th & 26th June 2016. Please encourage relatives and friends who may be interested in tennis to come along.
Both weekends will be free.

We were very sorry to lose our longstanding member, Richard Elwell this year. Richard originally came to
the UK after studying at Harvard. Even though in recent years, Richard was suffering from poor health, he
often popped up to the club on a Sunday morning to say ‘hello’ to everyone. A loyal member of the club, he
will be sorely missed.

Congratulations to the Men’s 1st & 2nd Teams winning their respective divisions and gaining promotion.
Also well done to Michaela and Gemma (two members of our Ladies 1st Team) for getting through to the
Surrey Ladies Doubles ‘A’ Grade final. A great achievement.

Your committee is here to help you, so if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach
any of us.

Kind regards
Michael Considine
