Sadly Southsea Mixed 2 were unable to bring home the win on Saturday, June 14th v Rowlands Castle. Final score was 3:1 to Rowlands Castle.
The team did extremely well to get one rubber and we played a very experienced Rowlands Castle team. We were toe to toe with them, taking both pairs to the max; well done Southsea Mixed 2.
Southsea Mixed 2 played strong and fought hard.
Thank you to the Club House café for providing a delicious post-match tea. The team continue to learn from each match and we look forward to our next match away against league leaders Chichester 2 on Sunday, July 27th 2025.
Mens 1 update.
After a tough winter season where we finished second from bottom in division 2, we entered the same division in the summer 2025 league. Once again, this division is very tough, with teams of seasoned players, including some coaches. We opened up the season with an away match at Court X 3 and put up a valiant fight against a team featuring one of their main coaches but ultimately lost 3-1 on rubbers. Our second match, away against Avenue 3 was our first match of the year on grass but we managed gain a winning draw (2 points) based on sets, after both of our pairs won a rubber. Our third match was away against Warsash 2 and we were agonisingly close to gaining a draw and a point after our final rubber went to a match tie-break: we were on match point but somehow the opponent came back to win. Our latest match back on home turf saw us face Lee 2, a team who had previously beaten us outright in the winter league. However, this time, our first pair were able to win both rubbers in straight sets and our second pair were able to win a set in their first rubber, thereby gaining a winning draw based on a 5-4 victory in sets, giving us another 2 precious points. We currently sit in 4th place out of 7 teams which is much better progress than in the winter season. With two more matches to go, all is still to play for!
