On Thursday 10 July, members of Southsea Tennis Club gathered for an evening of summer sunshine, friendly competition, and a chance to catch up—bringing  Wimbledon week to life right here at the club. Although the official start time was 7pm, several members were still enjoying the Thursday evening  mix-in so joined later. Others began the evening with a glass in hand and conversation flowing. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up, chat, and enjoy both the social side and tennis.

Guests dined alfresco in the gardens of the clubhouse, enjoying a meal of grilled skewers, salad, and an ice cream. The combination of food, relaxed conversation and welcoming company made for a truly memorable evening.

Following the meal, members joined a Wimbledon themed quiz that encouraged lively discussion and teamwork which raised a cash prize for the winners and £145 for club funds. The evening’s raffle added a final touch of excitement, especially with the one and only prize up for grabs: a pair of weekend tickets to Victorious Festival. Congratulations to our lucky winner, Dawn de Wilde.

As the newly appointed social secretary, I was delighted to meet so many of our members. The turnout was amazing which in turn created a real buzz throughout the evening. I look forward to many more opportunities to bring our members together and keep the club's social calendar thriving and engaging.
