Spencer Lawn Tennis Club

There are 2 main adult social sessions each week and both are managed by a coach who is responsible for setting out pairs to play, supplying balls and making up a four if there is an uneven number of players.

On Wednesday evenings the social is divided into two sessions. The first starts at 6.45pm and runs until 8.15pm. The second starts at 8.15pm and runs until 9.45pm. Due to high demand members need to book a slot for a session so we can manage numbers and give the coach time to set up well-balanced pairs. Currently an email is sent to all members on Sunday evening with a link enabling those who wish to attend to book. We can only take 24 members for each session in the winter but can manage another 12 in the summer when the grass courts are playable. It's first come/first served but the Spencer LTC Court Booking WhatsApp group acts as a waiting list should anyone not be able to attend.

The Sunday social is a much more relaxed affair. It runs from 2pm to 5.30pm and there's no need to book. Members can turn up and leave whenever they like. We are hoping to attract more members to this session by adding some free coaching from time to time and encouraging more to stay for a drink or two!

Off Peak Socials: These daytime sessions are for full and off-peak members and are supervised by a coach. They take place on Mondays from 1.30pm-3pm and on Fridays from 1pm-2.30pm.

Junior Socials: There are 2 junior social sessions every Friday during term time. (They don't run during the summer holidays and half terms as we run kids camps during the day for these). The 4.30pm-6pm session is for children aged from 5 to 10 years. There's no need to book just pay cash on arrival. It's £5 for members and £10 for non-members. We provide some coaching in a fun environment and do our best to tire the kids out making your Friday evenings that much easier!

The second junior social starts at 6pm and runs to 7.30pm and is for secondary school children. Again, no booking is required and it's £5 for members and £10 for non-members. There's a good mixture of abilities in this group and it's a great opportunity for kids to improve their game and make friends.
