About the courts

Where are St Ann’s Tennis courts?
The eight St Ann’s Tennis courts are in the north-west corner of St Ann’s Well Gardens in Hove (bordering Somerhill Road and Nizells Avenue.) Do check out the map on our Contact page

When are the courts open?
In winter months (October-February), the courts are open every day from 8am-4pm (last court booking at 3pm.) In summer months (March-September), the courts are open from 7am-9pm. The park is open 24/7 year-round.

What facilities are there at St Ann’s Tennis?
There are eight courts at St Ann’s Tennis. The courts, which are now run by the St Ann’s Tennis CIC, have recently been extensively refurbished and further improvements (resurfacing) are planned for next year.

Are there catering facilities at St Ann’s Tennis?
The Garden Café is just a few yards away from the tennis courts. The Café offers snacks and drinks throughout the day – from 8am daily until 5pm (or earlier, depending on the weather).

Where are the loos?
There are public toilets next to the Garden Cafe, two minutes from the courts.

Booking courts

How do I book courts at St Ann’s?
The courts are open to all players and can be easily booked through the Lawn Tennis Association’s online ClubSpark booking system. Pay & Play costs £8.60 an hour. Courts are free for members of St Ann’s Tennis; membership costs just £100/year and offers fantastic value. Please visit the Booking Information page for more details.

Why do I have to pay for courts?
Brighton & Hove Council no longer funds the upkeep of any parks tennis courts in the city and is encouraging the introduction of self-funding management models. To read a statement from Rob Walker, Head of Parks, please click here. For more information about St Ann’s Tennis CIC, please click here.

Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. You can cancel any court booking up to 24hrs beforehand. No refunds are possible if it’s less than 24 hours before your booking. St Ann’s Tennis does not offer refunds for rain or wind-affected bookings. All players book at their own risk.

How do I become a St Ann’s Tennis member?
Membership is managed through the LTA’s ClubSpark booking system. Please visit our Membership page for more info.

About St Ann’s Tennis

What is the St Ann’s Tennis Community Interest Company?
The St Ann’s Tennis Community Interest Company is a non-profit organisation, set up in summer 2020 in order to manage and maintain the eight tennis courts in St Ann’s Well Gardens for the benefit of the whole community. St Ann’s Tennis CIC has embarked on a long-term programme of court improvements with resurfacing of all the courts planned for next year. St Ann’s Tennis is a registered LTA club, and is planning to enter a team in the Brighton & Hove Parks League season in 2021. For more info, see About St Ann’s Tennis.
