June Newsletter

Hello everyone

We have had a very eventful month! Here are the highlights:

  • We have focused on building activity amongst juniorsClub & Coach was launched on 9th June and this has been a raging success, bringing in 13 new junior members (and 2 mums!) to date. A big thanks to Adrian, Kyle, Sam, Vanessa, and Jane. It’s been wonderful to see the club buzzing so much and we hope to get an active take up for the Junior Summer Camp running for 6 weeks from 23rd July.

  • Hopefully you’ll have noticed our marketing drive, which has been possible thanks to sponsorship from Dataquest (a global print services provider) and Dakota (a local printing firm). Please do take a look at their websites and bear them in mind should you need any print services – be sure to mention SHLTC if you do. Between them, these companies have provided us with funding and services to get banners, leaflets and posters printed and distributed to local schools and the local community. We also now have the SHLTC club mobile: 07387 753775 – it’s great to be getting calls on this as it’s showing the campaign is working.

  • We are starting to extend our reach to target the less able in the community and also calling out to all “Rusties” to see whether there is interest in us starting up specific sessions to appeal to these groups. We have had mentions in the local Highfields Residents Association newsletter, and we are featuring in the South Sutton Neighbourhood Association and South Sutton Hello newsletters, which go out to people in the area including doctor's surgeries, chemists, and the library.
  • From a social perspective, we held the Curry Night on 20th June, and this was well attended by 16 members. Here we presented the previous management committee (Mike Tarrier– Chairman, Steve Goldman – Treasurer, and Sandra – Secretary) each with a present to thank them for their contribution to the club. Coming up in July we have Strawberries, Cream & Prosecco (advanced booking required so please let us know if you’re interested) on Sunday, 1st July at 16:00, and Darts Night is scheduled for Wednesday, 25th July (further details to come). Our club Open Day is scheduled for Saturday, 14th July between 11:00-16:00 so please continue to be welcoming to any newcomers when you see them. Do not forget, Tennis Finals Day is on Saturday, 8th September. This is our main social event of the year, so please all Boules, Tennis and Social members keep it free – tickets going on sale in August.

I’d like to close off with a bit of local publicity for the CAOS Open Artist Studios trail, taking place this Saturday and Sunday between 11:00-17:00. Look out for the boards outside houses but a specific mention to Chris Roberts’ studio at 44 The Ridgway.

Please help us spread the word and “Follow” us on Facebook and Twitter.

Best regards
