Position Details

Job title: Swansea Tennis Centre Senior Development Coach

Minimum Qualification: Level 3

Salary: £18-£20 per hour depending on experience, including bonus structure

Contract Type: Self Employed

Role Overview

As a Swansea Tennis Centre Development Coach, you will be responsible for delivering best in class coaching to ensure children and adults fall in love with tennis and progress at the fastest rate possible. The role will cover coaching at the centre, schools outreach work and some coaching within our new Parks Programme. The successful candidate will work closely with Head of Development Simon Lancaster to ensure quality coaching is delivered and to develop new and vibrant initiatives to grow tennis across Swansea.

Coaches at Swansea Tennis Centre are expected to undergo monthly CPD delivered through LTA Coach visits, team meetings and mentoring from experienced coaches who have a track record of creating high performing environments that develop players from beginner to national and international levels.

The role will be a full-time position, starting at 15 hours per week, 46 weeks per year, and will include the opportunity to grow individual lessons.

Main Duties

  • Deliver group and individual coaching.
  • Contribute to outreach programme.
  • Advise parents on aspects of player development.
  • Delivering CPD to coaching team
  • Ensuring delivery standards across the programme
  • Delivering camps and competitions
  • Frequently update your expertise in a variety of ways
  • Use digital resources effectively to support attraction, development and retention of players.
  • Making substantial contributions to the development of the programme, centre and coaching team

 

Venue Overview

Swansea Tennis Centre is growing fast, and we require coaches to join our team in the journey to becoming the best player development centre in the UK. The Wales Regional Player Development Centre is located at the centre, alongside an LTA 10U Performance Pathway Centre and we will be starting an exciting Parks Programme in local parks from Summer 2024.

Swansea has 4 indoor and 4 outdoor floodlit courts and currently has a Monday to Saturday coaching programme of over 280 players delivered by a team of 8 coaches. The Centre also includes a gym and S&C area.

Capable of developing under 8 players to county level

Experience of delivering schools tennis

Deep understanding of GB tournament pathway

Full, clean driving license

Referee qualification

Accredited +

Experience of delivery on inclusive tennis projects

Works well within a coaching team

 

Highly self-motivated individual
