Booking Terms
These terms of use apply to the tennis courts at Swanspool Gardens. The courts are owned and managed by Wellingborough Town Council. All users of the courts are expected to follow these terms of use to ensure they remain safe, welcoming and available to all.
There are two tennis courts available for booking. There are no floodlights. The council will take reasonable steps to ensure that the facilities provided are safe. When playing tennis, you do so at your own risk.
General Booking Rules
- All court bookings must be made in advance and online via www.lta.org.uk/book or via the app LTA ‘Play Tennis’. Users are asked to login using an LTA account or will need to create one.
- Payment for court bookings are made through a secure online payment portal. Once a booking is successfully made a confirmation email will be sent which includes the date, time and court number for your booking. A unique pin code will be issued and can be used to gain access to the courts at the time of your booking.
- Please use the court that you have booked and for the allocated duration of time.
- All courts are available for hire from 8am – 10pm (or dusk) Monday to Sunday. Court availability will show on the booking website.
- All court bookings are available to hire in 1 hours slots and users can book up to 2 hours at a time.
- Immediate court bookings can be made within a time slot if a vacant court is available. Courts are still charged as per the 1 hour rate.
- Courts can be booked 7 days in advance.
- 2 hours is the maximum time a court can be booked for, unless otherwise agreed with the council.
- No user should register with the courts twice in an attempt to gain additional court access. Duplicate accounts will be deleted and will not be issued with a refund.
- Please cancel any unwanted bookings online to allow others to play. This must be done 24 hours in advance of your session to receive an automatic refund. Refunds are not provided if cancelled within 24 hours.
- The coucil reserves the right to cancel bookings or close the courts, where there is cause (e.g. adverse weather) at their discretion. An email will be sent to the user notifying them should this be necessary and a refund issued (if relevant).
- The council reserves the right to pre-book the courts for coaching, events and maintenance.
- Free Park Tennis will be programmed in each week (Timing TBC). This is an organised session that can be booked to attend.
Coaching
- Private coaching is not permitted on the courts. The council has the right to suspend booking rights if users are deemed in breach of this.
- Any coaching activity at the courts will be through an LTA accredited coach provider and approved by the council. Details of organised coaching sessions will be provided on the website and notice boards, where relevant.
Court Rules
- Players should comply with the principles of respect and fair play, both on and off the court.
- Users of the courts must supply their own equipment (rackets and balls) unless otherwise stated in organised sessions (e.g. Free Park Tennis sessions or pre-arranged coaching).
- Please ensure you close the court gate properly when you enter and leave the court and help to keep the courts in a safe condition by reporting any damage or suspicious behaviour to the council via the Contact Us page.
- Smoking or drinking of alcohol is not permitted on the Courts
- Animals and bicycles are not allowed inside the tennis courts.
- No equipment other than rackets and balls should be used in the courts (e.g. no ball machines), unless otherwise approved by the council.
- The coucil has the right to suspend booking rights if users are deemed in breach of any court rules.
- All court bookings play tennis at their own risk and are asked to apply common sense in looking out for themselves and other users at all times
- Please take off the court everything you take on – including all balls and general litter. Nearby litter bins are available to dispose of any waste.
- Player’s footwear must have soft-soled non-marking shoes with rubber or cord soles and without raised heels. Black soles are not permitted on the courts.
- Courts cannot be booked for any activities other than tennis unless with consent from the council.
Right to Play
You must book a court online before playing. If someone is playing on the Court you have booked when you arrive, please use your booking confirmation as proof where possible or use another Court if necessary. If you encounter any problems, please contact the court operator on via the Contact Us page. Emails are monitored and a response will be provided within 48 hours where possible.
