President’s Message October 2018
Welcome to our club update for October.
Our annual Club Championships have all now been settled across several September weekends. Detailed lists of the category champions in the juniors, adult and over 40’s are available on our website and facebook pages for all those looking to see what heights need achieving for next year. Congratulations to all those who earned their silverware, thanks to all who supported their endeavours and a special thankyou to John and Eveline for the tireless work put in to provide these competitive opportunities. A further thanks is extended to those who have recently been awarded Honorary Membership of our Club for reasons including philanthropic giving and services to the Club over many years. Our honours board in the clubhouse was unveiled during the lunchbreak and a special note of thanks eloquently delivered to those honoured by our former club champion Andrew Macleod.
We hosted tournaments under the ‘Highland Tour’ banner for juniors from around the Highlands and Moray. These proved very successful under the expert guidance of Scott and a host of willing helpers. Not to be outdone, our ladies recently enjoyed a well supported day of competition, and not a little home baking I believe, with their Fortrose compatriots, all played in a great spirit of friendship.
John is running a coaching camp during the school holidays and regular coaching continues after that. There is also an innovative coaching initiative organised by Joanie being held for girls in the 10 to 16 years age category on 23rd October. Details are available on the Club website.
We hope to set up Whatsapp groups to make the co-ordination of club nights easier over the coming weeks so please message the club to ensure you are included if you don’t hear from us.
We held a very successful fundraising Quiz last year and we are repeating it this year. Now confirmed for 7.30pm on 3rd November at the Tain Golf Club clubhouse, the cost is £6 per person and you can pay on the door. There will be finger foods, a raffle and all the great company you can squeeze into a fun evening. All are welcome.
On regulatory matters, our Club look forward to renewing our long standing LTA affiliation this year in full compliance with the ever more stringent requirements of such accreditation. We pride ourselves on the attention to welfare and inclusion we provide and that such affiliation recognises.
