How to find us
Tarvin Tennis Club
King George Vth Playing Fields
Welcome to Tarvin Tennis Club. We have 4 astro courts situated within the King George V playing fields located just off the main A54 Chester Road to Northwich.
Our clubhouse is accessible via a ramp and has an elevated position to enjoy viewing the tennis. A balcony enhances this in the summer.
Membership and Tennis
We have approximately 120 members and run summer and winter teams in the Cheshire leagues - both mens, ladies and mixed. Socially we have daytime sessions and club evening sessions - including under floodlights on winter evenings. New members and visitors are assured of a warm welcome. Juniors in particular are encouraged with an expanding coaching programme. Whilst we put an emphasis on enjoying tennis, we run three teams both summer and winter for those wishing to play competitively. Why not come and join us.
In the summer months club nights are held on a Tuesday & Friday evening, as well as Saturday morning. During the winter months, club nights are on a Tuesday evening & Saturday morning. All are welcome, including anybody who is thinking of joining the club.
There are various social tennis groups which meet on a weekly basis during the day for both ladies & men, usually on a Monday, Tuesday & Thursday (Men in the morning & ladies in the afternoon). Further details can be provided upon application, so please contact us if you are interested in joining one of these social groups.
We recognise that parents of juniors won't necessarily have time to play themselves but would like to practice with their junior members. We therefore allow junior members to play with their non member parents on Wednesday and Fridays from 4-6pm and weekends after 2pm on Courts 3&4.
For membership or more information contact Felicity Pochin (firstname.lastname@example.org)
We operate a court booking system to ensure you don't arrive when there are club sessions or matches - please follow the link under Booking above.

History of Tarvin Tennis Club
The first tennis club that existed on the present site ran from 1946 to 1962. Originally it had two grass courts and these continued until 1951 when they were re-laid and surfaced with tarmac.
In 2007 we celebrated our 40th Anniversary of the present Tarvin Tennis Club.
In 2016 the Club improve its facilities with the installation of floodlighting on two courts and a new improved club house. Grant funding for both facilities was provided by Sport England with help from an anonymous donor.
On 17th June 2017 we celebrated the opening of our new facilities and the 50th Anniversary of the Club. There was an American tournament in the afternoon, followed by cutting of the cake with speeches, and then a dinner in the evening at the Community Centre.
In November of 2022, we began resurfacing Courts 1&2. After a delay due to sub zero temperatures, the new Tiger Turf courts were finished in time for the end of the year.
There are four tennis courts, 2 tiger turf courts and 2 astro turf courts. Flood lighting has been provided on the 2 astro turf courts.
The new clubhouse provides a place for players to discuss their recent triumphs/defeats, whatever their standard of play, and from which to watch others playing on the courts. It includes a kitchenette, changing rooms and toilets.
Tarvin Tennis Club prides itself in offering a friendly welcome to both new members and visitors. We are particularly keen to encourage youngsters to take up tennis through an expanding coaching programme. At the other end of the age spectrum we have flourishing sessions for retirees during the week.
Tarvin is also a competitive club, running teams summer and winter in local leagues. It currently has Mens, Womens, Mixed, Junior and Veterans teams, and there is an opportunity for a variety of standards to participate in team play.
One of the highlights of the year is the Club tournament which runs through the summer and is always keenly contested. American tournaments take place three or four times a year.
