July Newsletter: Finals Weekend is looming

The teams are on their final push (with several going for promotion) and the Club Champs are hotting up. Summer is still going strong, but preparations for Finals Weekend have already begun.

Raffle fundraising

We are looking to raise at least £600 for the finals weekend raffle, where all proceeds will go to Shooting Star. Please email the Secretary for any donations of prizes – examples include bottle of champagne, a service (massage, training session, meal cooked for two), lemon drizzle cake, gift voucher.

Finals Weekend party

The biggest event of the tennis year is back – on Saturday 3rd September there will be a party at the club, featuring a live band and food from our partners Prem curry. Tickets (costing £17.50) will be released shortly so check your inboxes.

Finals Weekend video

An exciting opportunity for any budding directors: we are looking to create a short video based on footage from Finals Weekend. If you have any experience in video editing, or would like to get involved in filming, please email secretarytltc@gmail.com.

Online booking

Based on feedback, the rules for booking courts has changed: you are now only able to book one court a day per person (up to 1.5 hours). Please ensure that you enter the correct time slot, rather than booking multiple half hour slots.

Clubhouse security

We have had a few cases recently of the clubhouse not being locked at night. If you are the last person at the club in the evening, please make sure the bar is pulled shut, the lights are off and the clubhouse door is locked (with the door off the latch).

First Aid/ defibrillator training course

The next First Aid training session from St John's Ambulance will take place on Friday 30th September from 4-7pm. Come and refresh your first aid skills and learn how to effectively use our defibrillator. Please sign up on the sheet in the clubhouse or email andy@king-fit.com to book a place.

London Youth Games success

Milana Simler and Joshua Burson of TLTC fame represented Richmond borough in the London Youth Games junior category (11-13 years) this year. They won their division in the qualifying event at the NTC and put on some great tennis in the finals, helping Richmond finish runners up out of over 30 boroughs. Many thanks to Anthony Mills and Zino Arbane for managing the team and well done to Milana and Joshua.
