Team Great Britain headed to the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championships earlier this month in Bol, Croatia with 4 Lancashire representatives. Phylils Bentham was in the Women's 80 & Over team, Dorothy Bamber the Women's 85 & Over team and Peter Bretherton in the Men's 80 & Over team. Pam McGrath represnted Great Britiain in the Iindividual events.
Peter Bretherton made his Great Britian debut competing in the Gardnar Mulloy Cup. The team finished a very respectible 8th place out of 14 teams winning 3 out of his 6 matches with partner Julian Tatum.

In the Women's events, Dorothy and her 85 & Over team won a bronze medal in the Angela Mortimer Cup with GB beating Australia and Argentina and then losing 2-1 against USA and Germany who won gold and silver medals.

In the Doris Hart Cup, Women's 80 & Over Phyllis and her teamates also came third winning all their qualifying matches. The GB team then lost to USA and France to win the Bronze medal.

Phyllis and Dorothy stayed on in Croatia for a further few weeks with Phyllis losing in a match tie break in the quarter finals of the 80 & Over singles event and in the quarter finals in the doubles event with her dutch partner Anneke Jelsma. In Mixed doubles Phyllis and her Spanish partner Pedro won a silver medal in the Mixed Doubles 80 & Over event.
Dorothy won the bronze medal in the Women's 85 & Over singles loosing in the semi's to the eventul winner from USA. Dorothy took part in the Mixed doubles 80 & Over event with partner Mogens Drehn from Denmark losing in the semi final to 2 Americans.
Pam McGrath won a silver medal in the W omen's Singles 90 & over and a bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles 90 & Over event with her Australian partner Henry Young aged 102!
