Promotion secured for 18 & Under Boys

Last weekend saw the annual LTA 18 & Under County Cup events take place with the boys competing at Bromley Tennis Centre and the girls at Nottingham Tennis Centre.

18 & Under Girls

Team             Haniya Arien, Ava Austerberry, Samira Butt, Hima Fernando, Lily Harper, Mariam Meftah , Elizabeth Rimmer, Hannah Rylatt and Daisy Wootton.

The girls made the trip down to Nottingham on Thursday afternoon knowing they were going to ahve some tough matches to be in with a chance of promotion to Division 1. First up the team took on Herefordshire & Worcestershire with a strong 8-1 performance esepcailly from the younger members of the team. Saturday the girls were schedule to play Avon who we knew would be strong! After 2 match tie break doubles match with us losing 1 and 1 going our way we clinched the win 5-4. The team went into Sunday knowing if they beat Middlesex the team would be promoted to Division 1 next year! This match up was a step too far for the young team with Hannah Rylatt leading the way as the only player to win all her singles matches.

18 & Under Boys

Team             Sam Chadwick, Brennan Foster, Tomáš Grime, Oliver Hinks, Oliver Lawton, Harry Lumb, Serban Salbaticu and Harry Senior

The team made the long trip down to Surrey on Thursday ahead of their first match against Warwickshire on Frirday morning. The boys made a dominant start with a 6-3 win winning all of the doubles matches.  Saturday saw the team take on Essex and another strong 8-1 win for Lancashire. Sunday, the crunch match against Middlesex with a change to regain their position in Division 1. After a 3-3 singles result Lancashire went on to win the 1 of the doubles matches which meant that due to Middlesex's loss earlier in the weekend to Essex there was no way they could gain promotion. The boys had done it!!
