Congratulations to Khadija Patel from the KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club who has won the national Cathie Sabin Volunteer of the Year Award for her inspiring and tireless work transforming opportunities for women and girls in Bolton.
Khadija was annoucned as the winner at the national LTA Awards ceremony, which took place at the National Tennis Centre in London earlier this month.
Khadija was presented the Lancashire Volunteer of the Year award earlier this month which then put her in contention against other volunteers from around the County for the prestigious national award.
Through her leadership, she has created safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces, particularly engaging Muslim and ethnically diverse communities.
Over the past year, Khadjia has removed barriers to participation by providing female-only sessions, equipment, coaching, and supportive environments. She has also empowered other women to become leaders by supporting them to gain activator and coaching qualifications, creating a sustainable network of volunteers and role models.
Khadija's creativity and dedication bring tennis to life, combining sport with wellbeing, social connection, and empowerment. She mentors volunteers, builds community partnerships, and advocates for inclusion, making tennis accessible, fun, and culturally sensitive. Her leadership has made tennis in Bolton more visible, inclusive, and sustainable, ensuring her impact will continue for years to come.
Well done on a thoroughly deserved award, keep up the great work!
