The Lancashire Ladies 70 & over and 75 & over teams qualified for the Finals of the Seniors County Cup competition which took place last weekend at David Lloyd Southampton.

In qualifying for the finals both teams finisted top of Division 1 in their respective age group 1 A & 1 B without losing a match. The teams then took on the winner of the other Division 1 group in the finals.

The 70 & Over team lead by Roberta Holtby took on a strong Surrey side. Roberta & Aileen and Irene & Lesley both lost in tight match tie break third sets and then lost the final matches with Linda replacing Irene to make the final score of 0-4 to Surrey. The Lancashire team were crowned runners up.

The 75's team pictured above led by Dorothy Bamber took on Devon. Dorothy and partner Phyllis fresh of their succes in Bol at the ITF World Championships won their first match in a highly competitve match tie break. The rest of the matches the Lancashire ladies unfortunately lost meaning that Devon won 3-1 and the Lancashire Ladies finished runners up.

Well done to all the players who took part and made the long journey, it was a great result to qualify for the National Finals and fly the flag for Lancashire.
