How to find us
Thirsk Tennis Club
Wishing you a warm welcome to Thirsk Tennis Club
Our club is part of the Thirsk Athletics Club (www.thirskathleticclub.co.uk) which is situated alongside Thirsk Racecourse off Newsham Road,
YO7 1QP. The Athletics Club is the home of seven of the town’s major sports clubs which include cricket; bowls; football; rugby, squash hockey and of course tennis.
Our 3 floodlit and all-weather tennis courts are to be found just beyond the cricket field and next to the Bowls Club in a beautiful rural setting in the centre of Thirsk Racecourse.
We are a small, friendly member’s-only club and offer all year round tennis. The club is popular with adults, young people and children and promotes tennis by providing a mix of social and competitive tennis for players of all ages and standards. We are proud to be a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) registered member. We meet their six safeguarding standards demonstrating that we are a safe and inclusive club for members and their guests to play, practice and enjoy the game of tennis.
Our Welfare Officer, coach and coaching assistants are all required to have full DBS checks and are trained in Safeguarding. Our Committee is also trained to the LTA requirements. We shall follow the LTA Safeguarding and Diversity and Inclusion policies to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all at the Club. Our volunteer Welfare Officer Kate Waldron is a designated point of contact should there be any safeguarding queries or concerns. Kate can be contacted in confidence by email at [email protected] or by phone on 07712 708102.
Our coach and club captain Adam Scaife is LTA Level 3 accredited and provides Group or one to one coaching for players of all levels and abilities. He and his coaching staff also run holiday camps and after school coaching for children young people. Adam can be contacted at [email protected] .
