Disability Tennis

Tennis is a completely inclusive sport with everyone being able to participate in tennis in its full format or when adapted and the most well-known versions are deaf, learning disability, wheelchair and visually impaired tennis. Tennis can be adapted for any level of ability, as well as for players with different disabilities. It can be adapted to make it easier, slower, and simpler to participate in. It is also a great sport to play too, with proven physical and mental health benefits for disabled people.

Tom’s role as the Disability Coordinator  of Tennis Squad is to provide as many opportunities for people with disabilities to take part and enjoy Tennis and wants to continue to work with local communities and centres to offer inclusive possibilities for potential participation,.

Tom has wide experience of all versions of Disability Tennis and has worked closely over the years on an  individual basis with pupils who have Parkisons, Autism, deaf and learning difficulties.  In addition, Tom has built links with Disability Sport Wales and has delivered quality sessions for a variety of different schools/ centres throughout the Vale of Glamorgan:

• Ysgol Y Deri
• Scope
• Vale Plus
• Beechwood College
• Hen Goleg

Tom is willing to meet with any community centre or school to give them an insight into the benefits of Tennis and show what he can offer, actively looking to increase the awareness of Tennis amongst the disability network.
