Over 70 Year 3 and 4 pupils from across the borough took part in the Hillingdon Borough School Games Mini Tennis competition this week held at Tripletts Community Tennis Centre.
Sixteen teams from across the borough took part and it was great to see so many young players playing tennis matches. For many it was their first time playing tennis matches but all the players demonstrated a sound level of ability and knowledge of the game as the tournament progressed.
After some great rallies and some really close matches, St. Helen's College progressed to the final to meet Sacred Heart. Once again, the standard of play was high in the final and it could not have been closer resulting in a tie, with two matches won each. The result was decided on a count back of points won and St. Helen's College had won 29 points whereas Sacred Heart had won 28, so there was just one point in it!
St Helen's were awarded the trophy and gold medals and will now go on the represent the London Borough of Hillingdon at the School Games at Crystal Palace in July.
Many thanks to club member Tony M and club coach Josh for helping to make the event a huge success.
