Over 25 years’ experience in all forms of club coaching including tot’s tennis, mini tennis, junior and adult tennis. Knowledge & experience promoting and delivering tennis to mainstream Primary Schools and Schools with Additional Support Needs throughout Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, and Glasgow.
Shortlisted previously for the Tennis Scotland Coach Award and for the Tennis Scotland Disability Programme Award.

Cost for individual lessons

£25.00 for 1 hour

2 players sharing 1 hour lesson - £14.00 each.

The club runs a programme of coaching classes.

JUNIORS

Our Junior& Tots tennis coaching caters for pre, primary and secondary school age groups.

 

From 25th Oct we will be moving our weekly sessions indoors

If you are not already atteneding junior coaching and wish to join us -

Places can be reserved here  (Fridays are At Muirhead Actvity Centre, and Saturdays are at Marr College )

 

TOTS TENNIS

We are currently hoping to re-commence these classes on a Thurs - Age 3-5 £4 per class pay as you go

Designed to teach young players the basics using fun activities & energetic games to develop  coordination, agility, and racket and ball skills.

Each child must be accompanied by an adult on court with them to help them with various activities.

TENNIS YOUTH RED 

Saturday 09:00 – 10:00  P1-P2 (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Marr College)

Friday 15:30 - 16:30  P1-P2-P3 (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Muirhead Activity)

Red is for players 8 and under. It is played on smaller courts with short rackets and softer balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have rallies and play different types of shots.


TENNIS YOUTH ORANGE 

Saturday 10:00 – 11:00 P3-4 (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Marr College)

Friday  16:30 - 17:30 P4-P5-P6  (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Muirhead Activity)

Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Red. It is played with short rackets, softer balls but courts are bigger and wider than the red stage yet still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.

 

TENNIS YOUTH GREEN - Yellow

Saturday 11:00– 12:00 noon P5-P6 (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Marr College)

Friday 17:30 - 18.30  P7+ and older (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Muirhead Activity)

Green tennis is a great way for players to continue their progress from  Orange and is played with low compression green balls on a full-size tennis court.

 

P7 - S1-6 to (U18)TENNIS YOUTH YELLOW

Saturday 12:00 noon - 13:00 P7+ S1 and older (Oct- end Feb, indoor @ Marr College)

Friday 17:30 - 18.30 P7+ S1 and older

Yellow ball tennis is for those aged 11 and upwards and continues the players skills and knowledge of the game.

The cost for all primary and older coaching sessions is £5 per club member and £7 for non-club members (£4/6 for Frin indoor sessions) and is paid when you arrive for your coaching session.


 

Junior Team Development Squad Coaching

Tuesdays from 3:30pm - this session is by invitation - once your child is established in their weekly session they may be eligible  to join this additional class, working towards more competitive tennis and junior match play 

Equipment

Children should bring their own equipment where possible, but rackets can be  provided by the club if required.

Appropriate tennis clothing and sports footwear must be worn. (No jeans/sandals) Clothing which represents team colours (such as Football / Rugby tops of any kind) are not permitted. 

 

ADULTS

During Winter months (with only floodlit courts available) Brian will run Coaching Sessions to accommodate all standards of play - He also runs team match practice sessions leading to league matches - and other coaching is available throughout the year. 

Adult coaching is usually open to Members Only - and these sessions are communicated through Club emails/groups.

 

Any adult coaching must be pre booked using the "bookwhen" site (the link for which is provided in your membership info sent out when joining)  If you have misplaced this link - email treasurer@troontennis.org.uk

 

Private coaching lessons are bookable by contacting coach Brian on 07919 060381 or emailing brian@knoxtennis.co.uk to arrange your session.  Please also note, you will be required to book a court in advance for the lesson.
