As we reach the midway point of the BUCS season here's a roundup of how our teams have been getting on so far!

Men's 1st Team:
After a tough season last year in Premier North the Men's 1st team have been in impressive form. With a set win rate of 88.5% they sit top of the Scottish 1A table, losing only 4 rubbers so far. With the core of the team from last year still in place, led by Captain Matthew Stout; Scott Docherty, Lee Wishart and Jamie Fleming occupy the top 4 places in the individual player stats. After losing out to a strong Leeds Beckett side in the Cup, the guys focus will be firmly on gaining promotion back to Premier North!

Men's 2nd Team:
In 2014/15 the Men's 2nd team were competing in Scottish 4A but after huge successes in recent seasons in both league and cup competition, they kicked off their first season in Scottish 1A. In a tightly contested league, Captain Finlay Wright has led them to 3rd place with 3 matches to play. Both Strathclyde Union President Calvin Hepburn and fresher Greg Walker complete the Strathclyde contingent in the top 10 league players.

Men's 3rd Team:
After missing out on promotion on the final day last season, Captain Daniel Law is well on track to promotion this season with 4 wins and a draw from the first 5 games. They currently sit 2nd in the table with a game in hand and are still in the hunt in Cup competition. Scott Rankine and fresher Alisdair Hambrey have some impressive individual stats so far, and with 3 games left to play they will be looking for another 3 wins to clinch the top spot!

Ladies 1st Team:
"The first semester for us has been a dream, commitment has been great with the same 4 players playing every match! It stands us in great stead for hopefully gaining promotion." - Captain Francesca Blair
Consistency the key for the Ladies 1st team who have won 6 out of 6 so far. The combination of freshers Anna Daisley, Emily gates and Annable Burns together with with veteran Francesca Blair has seen the girls rocket to the top of the league and occupy the top 4 places in the individual player stats. After a huge win over Lancaster in the cup last month, they take last years cup winners Durham 2nd's at home on 21st February - keep an eye out for match details to come and show your support!

Ladies 2nd Team:
2017 kicked off with the addition of the Ladies 2nd team to the club. A disappointing start to the season with a loss in their first game was definitely not a sign of thing to come for the girls. Under Captain Sophie Robinson's guidance they went on to win their next 5 games and are currently sitting top of Scottish 3A! Some impressive individual stats also for Roses Anderson, Jenny Campbell and Valentina Bonetti who all sit in the top 5 for the division. The girls will be hoping to continue this form and finish their first ever season strongly!

Some big games coming up next semester for all 5 of our teams but a well earned break to enjoy first!
