VRTC awarded Lottery Funding of £50k from Sports England

clubhouse with changing and toilet facilities. New facilities will enable better safeguarding of juniors as well as provide court-side viewing for parents during Juniors sessions. The funding will also provide floodlighting to LTA standards and so extend the use of courts into the evenings outside of the summer to provide greater opportunities for playing tennis, especially those who wish to play after work. This funding is a very significant addition to funds raised by the Club itself over the last 3 years to help towards funding of these new facilities. Sport England Property Director, Charles Johnston, said: “The Inspired Facilities Fund has had a huge impact on grassroots sport across the country. Since 2011, we’ve invested £88 million into more than 1,600 projects to improve and refurbish sports clubs and transform non-sporting venues into vibrant community sports clubs. “It’s great to see Veryan and Roseland Tennis Club join the long list of successful clubs to benefit from this fund.” Club Chairman, Father Doug Robins, said: “We are delighted to have secured this investment; we can now make tennis more available to people from across the Roseland and beyond and, importantly, enable us to provide better opportunities for young people to play and enjoy tennis.”   Member of Parliament for the Constituency Sarah Newton, said ‘I was delighted to read of the funding granted to Veryan and Roseland Tennis Club, and to learn of the exciting changes this money will enable. The new and improved club facilities should make a real difference to the experience of club users, enabling longer play and better viewing facilities for parents watching their children compete.   I send my heartiest congratulations to the Club on their successful fundraising effort and hope that other local clubs can be inspired by their example and explore the support on offer from Sport England.
