Competition

Dorset Youth and National 9U Mixed

9U Dorset Youth League.

A very young 9U team represented Victoria Avenue at East Dorset on Sunday 3rd May.

Each match consisted of 4 singles and two doubles.

We started in a round robin box of 4 teams where we played:-

Christchurch - some very close matches and we ended at 3 rubbers each.  Although we were ahead in points differential, it had to go to a shoot out and despite our best efforts we lost 10-5.

Wimborne - a very strong team and much older.  Although there were a few close matches, we ended up losing 6 rubbers to 0.  That meant it was now unlikely to reach the semi-finals - but we wanted to win our next match against

All-Stars - the team played with a freedom and confidence - they really deserved their win 5 rubbers to 1 - dominating play throughout.  That meant we were through to the 5th/6th playoff against

East Dorset. This looked like it was going to be quite difficult, but our quality of play had really improved as the day went on and we again dominated to win the match 5 rubbers to 1 (unfortunately that included a w/o for Issac - who missed out on his final singles).

It was so close- a shootout away from the semifinals, but a really well deserved 5th place in Dorset - the team of Leo, Issac, Theo, Jasmine and Oliver did Victoria Avenue proud.

Thank you for all the support from the parents and a special thank you to Lilly for all her umpiring - she was fantastic.
