Wantage Tennis Club recently held a Sunday Morning Tournament to celebrate one of its longest serving members. Anne Jones first played at Wantage in the 1970s, was instrumental in setting up Sunday morning social tennis sessions, at which she has since been virtually ever-present, and has served the Club in many capacities over the years.

Twelve pairs entered the tournament, were allocated a partner for the day and in each contest played four games with that partner and four against. Individual game totals provided the winners, Dee Jones in the Ladies' section and Jirasak Ruang-Oun in the Men's.

Excellent refreshments ensured that the morning did not end with the presentation of the trophies. Returning past members joined the players and other current members in the pavilion and under the verandah for lunch and reminiscence, as the rain which had politely stayed away all morning, started to fall.
