SOCIAL PLAY

We have a number of ‘Club Sessions’ where you can just turn up and play. We play doubles with a quick turnaround so that no-one waits for long. An experienced member is usually present to oversee proceedings.

Tuesday mornings from 10:00
Tuesday evenings from 18:30
Thursday evenings from 18:30
Friday afternoons  from 2pm to 4pm
Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 12:30  (Matches in the afternoon)

ALL abilities are welcome.

For those who like to be a little more competitive, the club participates in a number of leagues in Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

We have quite a few teams covering a wide variety of standards covering all abilities. So a big thank you to all team Captains and players for their commitment to Wantage Tennis Club without whom we would not have the active team play that we do. 

The Babolat League runs at weekends. Wantage Tennis Club has 3 Ladies teams and 6 Mens teams which participate in both the Winter and Summer Leagues, as well as 3 mixed teams in the Summer League. If you fancy some competitive tennis then there are many opportunities to play at all levels.

The Newbury League matches are held on Monday evenings, this is a 3 pair league playing just 1 set only against each pair taking part. You need to be on top of your game, there is no easing into the match with this league!! 

The Midweek Leagues are also run by OLTA and are open to any member who is available to play at 10.00am on a week day. In the past this has been a Wednesday morning, but this may change. Ladies DIV 1 is competitive and the standard of play is generally high. DIV 2 is known as the Friendly competition and so the standard can vary, but having said that it can still be competitive! The Men’s Midweek League was only started last Summer and was a complete mix of teams with some very strong competitors. For the coming season there has been more interest so we wait to see if there is more than one division. 

Finally the Friendly matches which take place over the summer are open to all who enjoy social tennis with a competitive edge.
